Elbert County is Ready for Election Season – Are You?

You’ve begun to see more and more press about upcoming political elections, which means election season is right around the corner. The Elbert County Election Department is preparing for an unprecedented number of elections in Colorado during a twelve-month period. Residents can expect a quarterly election update in the pages of the Elbert County Connection from now through the 2020 Presidential Election. As elections approach, here is all the information you need to know to do your part and participate in our republican form of government.
Save the date for these upcoming elections. Sample ballots, election notices and other pertinent information relevant to each election will be posted to the elections website at www.elbertcounty-co.gov/elections.php as they become available.
November 5, 2019 - Coordinated Election
The Coordinated Election ballot this November will include two statewide questions, plus any local issues/races for school districts, fire districts, municipalities or other special district that chooses to coordinate with the County.
March 3, 2020 - Presidential Primary Election
This election will be held to determine Colorado’s preference for presidential candidates for the Democratic & Republican parties for the 2020 Presidential Election.
June 30, 2020 - Colorado State/Local Primary Election
This summer election will determine candidates for the major parties for Congressional offices, State Legislators and Elbert County elected offices. Though much attention is placed on presidential elections, local elections like these are just as influential and important.
November 3, 2020 - Presidential Election
This election will determine who will be elected President of the United States, plus a variety of Congressional offices, State Legislators and County offices will be on the ballot along with any local districts that choose to coordinate with the County.
Are you registered to vote?
You can view and update your voter registration at www.govotecolorado.com. We also recommend you review this election checklist to ensure you are prepared for these upcoming elections!
1. Register to vote or check your voter registration.
2. Watch for your ballot in the mail. Ballots are mailed out 22 days before each election.
3. Vote your ballot. Be sure to place your voted ballot in your official return envelope. Do not use another household member’s envelope to return your ballot. Ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. (Postmarks do not count).
4. Return your voted ballot with adequate postage or place your ballot in a secure Ballot Drop Box through Election Day, or vote at a voter service and polling center.
Voting by Mail
All registered voters in Colorado receive a ballot by mail. This process is supported by a variety of checks and balances that ensure your vote is counted properly. This event will be held at the Election Office location listed below.
